Originally, Adolf Wiebecke from Oberalm intended his creation, the GeoWave®, to be an aesthetic improvement in hospital rooms and in 1997 it was first installed in a hospital in Salzburg, Austria. Considerable further research, tests and optimisation of the prototype led to production of the Wave in its current form.

The company GEOWAVE-RESEARCH Research and Trading GmbH was founded in 2001 by Adolf Wiebecke and is engaged in the exploration of energy-giving measures on the human body using scientific equipment. In the beginning it has been researched exclusively by empirical methods and equipment of complementary medicine, nowadays special equipment (GCV) is used.

In March 2003 specialists published a study about geopathological zones of disturbances. From that moment the GeoWave® has been accessible to the public.
